After burning out twice in two years and subsequently finding a more sustainable way forward with work and life, Bonsai Co-Founder Gabe decided to share his personal story and experience with burnout and also Quarter-Life Crisis. What is Burnout?

Burnout is an exhausted or demotivated state that anyone can fall into, after trying for too long to live up to either your own or others' expectations.

The problem at the core of burnout isn't about having a high bar of standard – the problem is when the expectations you're trying to meet keep getting higher, no matter how hard you try – or, that the expectations you've been asked to meet don't align with your own view of how things should be done.

In other words: when the expectations you're pursuing have come to feel either meaningless to you or utterly impossible, it's reasonable that you end up feeling burned out.
